Sauternes Information
Sauternes is a sweet and well balanced wine made primarily from the Semillon grape blended with Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. The grapes undergo a change from developing botrytis cinerea (noble rot) which shrivels the grapes, concentrating the sugar and flavor, resulting in notes of honey and nectar. One of the finest Sauternes is Château d’Yquem.
